My name is Alexey Potapovich. I am the founder of ValeOro, a GIA-certified gemologist, and a master lapidary. It all began with my father's dream. Anatoly Potapovich was a geologist who devoted his life to sourcing and cutting precious stones. From an early age, he took me on expeditions into the mountains, where I learned this ancient craft with my own hands. Those journeys became far more than adventures – they laid the foundation for my life's path. Today, I look back on that time with warmth and share the stories of our discoveries with my own children.
Witnessing crystals form in their natural environment leaves an indelible impression. Over time, this evolved into a profound connection between myself and the stones – that singular moment when you realise you are beholding a specimen that can never be replicated. I am convinced that stones possess a life of their own. Time and again, I observe a mutual attraction emerge between a person and a gemstone. Guiding people to find "their" stone – this is what inspires us to grow ValeOro. Each ValeOro creation is more than precious metal – it is the discovery of that missing element, the piece your personal style has been waiting for.
In 1998, following my university graduation, I became a co-owner of a jewellery company where I worked for sixteen years. We built a fully integrated operation – from sourcing stones to crafting finished pieces. We established a training centre through which thousands of future industry professionals passed. Our production ranged from classic gold chains to exclusive creations featuring rare gemstones. Those years working alongside talented artisans formed my professional foundation, enabling me to establish ValeOro in 2014. The brand's mission is to unite the expert pursuit of rare stones with the art of design, ensuring that each of our creations is not merely an object of admiration, but a sound investment. We travel the world in search of exceptional stones, attending private exhibitions and auctions to offer you what simply cannot be found in the mainstream market. Our expertise allows us to recognise potential where others see merely a commodity.

How does our studio work?
Working with fine jewellery demands precision and trust. We understand how important it is for a client to feel confident that every gemstone, the metal, and every detail of their piece are fully protected. That is why, at ValeOro, our process is designed to be as transparent as possible. When we receive your jewellery, we create a detailed condition report, recording the gemstone’s characteristics and providing photographic documentation. If you wish, we will also show the stone under a microscope, so you can see its unique features up close. Our atelier is equipped with a camera providing a live feed of the jeweller’s work in real time. While your piece is in our care, you are welcome to watch the process from our lounge area with a cup of coffee. Fine jewellery craftsmanship cannot be rushed. Any work on a precious piece requires time and unwavering focus, which is why we devote as many hours as necessary to achieve a flawless result.
